Ribbon Colours - 16mm double rainbow (Indigo at edges and Red in centre).

Item - Genuine Miniature Medal in Good condition with ribbon.

History and medal information - 

The obverse of this medal shows the standing figure of Victory holding a palm branch in her right hand and stretching out her left hand.

The reverse has a laurel wreath containing a four line inscription THE GREAT WAR FOR CIVILISATION 1914 -1919.

Issued to all those who had been awarded the 1914 Star medal or 1914-15 star medal and most of those who had the British war medal.

To qualify for the Victory Medal recipients had to be mobilised for war service in the United Kingdom or the British Empire, in any service, and to have entered a theatre of war between 5 August 1914 and 11 November 1918.

The same basic design and double rainbow ribbon were adopted by thirteen other Allied nations as well as Great Britain these are France, USA, Belgium, Brazil, Cuba, Romania, Italy, Japan, Greece, Portugal, Czechoslovakia, Siam and Union of South Africa.

The original full size medals were made from Copper lacquered in Bronze. Over 6 Million were issued in the British Version.
